The Oregon Coast is breathtaking, but not all beaches are created equal when it comes to planning a ceremony!
This guide will help you narrow it down. And if you’re not sure yet? That’s completely okay. I can help you choose!

The North Oregon Coast is home to some of the most breathtaking beach ceremony locations in Oregon.
From the iconic sea stacks of Cannon Beach to the quiet coves of Arch Cape and the sweeping shoreline of Manzanita, each spot offers a unique setting for an unforgettable coastal ceremony.
Big coastline views. Expansive beaches.
Perfect for larger groups and classic Oregon Coast imagery.
Tucked-away coves. Sea caves. Waterfalls. Ideal for elopements and small gatherings.
Minimal walking. Wide sand. Smooth access from parking. Best for guests with mobility considerations or rental setups.
→ Seaside
Panoramic overlooks. Elevated views. Less sand, more scenery.

Why Couples Love It
Cannon Beach is one of the most iconic wedding locations on the Oregon Coast. With Haystack Rock rising from the shoreline and miles of wide, open sand, it offers that classic, cinematic coastal backdrop couples dream of. It’s especially beautiful for larger gatherings — where the expansive beach gives guests space to spread out while still feeling connected to the ocean and each other.
The Vibe
Open. Expansive. Iconic. Cannon Beach feels grand and dramatic — especially near Haystack Rock — but it’s also one of the most visited beaches on the North Coast. In the summer months (June–September), it can be very busy. This is not a hidden cove. It’s a destination beach town. And for many couples, that’s exactly the appeal.
Planning Notes:
Tide Considerations: Unlike Hug Point, Cannon Beach is not typically cut off by the tide. The beach remains wide and usable throughout the day, though I still always check tide charts for optimal ceremony placement and photography.
♿ Accessibility
Accessibility can be tricky depending on your entrance point.
If you are staying at an oceanfront home or hotel, access is often easier and more direct. That said, walking on sand can still be challenging for guests with mobility concerns, so planning matters.
🅿️ Parking
Parking is one of the biggest logistical considerations here.
For larger weddings, I often recommend encouraging guests to carpool or stay at one of the many local Oceanfront hotels
Permits
Small, simple ceremonies (no setup, under 50 guests) typically do not require a permit. However, if you plan to:
You may need a special-use permit through the Oregon State Parks Department.
Ceremony, Reception & Venue Pairing
If you’re looking for a seamless experience, I especially recommend the Surfsand Resort. They specialize in beach weddings and offer:
My Personal Tip
If Cannon Beach is your dream location, think strategically about timing and entrance points. Choosing a slightly earlier ceremony time (instead of peak hours between noon – 5pm) or positioning farther south near Tolovana or north at Chapman Beach can improve parking and accessibility challenges, especially during summer. The right planning makes all the difference here.
Is Cannon Beach Right for You?
If you’re envisioning a classic Oregon Coast ceremony with space for guests, iconic views, and nearby reception options, Cannon Beach may be a perfect fit.

Why Couples Love It
Pacific City is one of the most picturesque and sought-after locations for a beach wedding on the Oregon Coast. With its iconic offshore sea stack (often called “the other Haystack Rock”), dramatic 300-foot sand dune, and red sandstone cliffs at the cape, it offers a bold and unforgettable coastal backdrop. It feels expansive, powerful, and uniquely Oregon.
Best For
The Vibe
Bold. Scenic. Iconic. Pacific City feels big —big sky, big dune, big views. The offshore sea stack creates a striking focal point, and the red sandstone cliffs at Cape Kiwanda add warmth and texture to photos. It’s lively in summer but spacious enough to still feel intentional with good placement.
Ceremony Location Options
1. Beachfront at Pelican Brewing (up to 100 guests)
For gatherings of more than 20 guests, I highly recommend Pelican Brewery.
They offer:
For couples wanting a seamless ceremony-to-reception experience, this is often the most stress-free option in Pacific City.
2. Top of the Sand Dune (2-10 guests)
For adventurous couples, the top of the dune provides panoramic views of the coastline and sea stack.
Things to note:
3. Red Sandstone Coves at the Cape (2-20 guests)
The sandstone formations at Cape Kiwanda create a dramatic, warm-toned backdrop unlike anywhere else on the North Coast. Access is best when the tide is 4 feet or lower. At higher tides, usable space becomes limited.
This area is ideal for:
Planning Notes
🌊Tide Considerations
The main beach area remains accessible at most tide levels (under 7 or 8 ft). The sandstone coves and certain cape areas are best accessed when the tide is 4 feet or lower. I always check tide charts to determine the most comfortable and scenic ceremony window.
♿ Accessibility
Pelican Brewery 🟢 Flat & Easy
Cape Kiwanda (at low tide) 🟡 Sand / Rocks/Uneven Terrain
Top of the Sand Dune 🔴 Steep (Challenging)
For mobility concerns, I recommend staying near the main beachfront access points. You can also book a beach track chair for use near Pelican Brewery at davidschair.org.
🅿️ Parking
Parking considerations in Pacific City:
Permits
Small, simple beach ceremonies typically do not require a permit. For larger structured gatherings outside of venue property you may need a special-use permit through the Oregon State Parks Department. Pelican Brewery hosted weddings handle much of this directly.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
Pacific City works beautifully for:
Because of its scale and infrastructure, it handles bigger groups well with proper planning.
My Personal Tip
If you want something that feels iconic but different from Cannon Beach, Pacific City delivers. The combination of sea stack, dune, and sandstone cliffs gives you multiple backdrops in one location — which makes your ceremony and portraits feel incredibly dynamic.
Is Pacific City Right for You?
If you’re dreaming of bold coastal scenery, dramatic views, and a flexible ceremony-to-reception flow, Pacific City may be the perfect fit. Let’s talk through guest count, tide timing, and venue coordination to see if it aligns with your vision.

Why Couples Love Ecola State Park
Famous as a filming location for The Goonies and Twilight, Ecola State Park is beloved for its breathtaking, elevated views of Cannon Beach and the dramatic Oregon coastline.
With lush coastal forest, scenic overlooks, and relatively easy walking trails, it offers sweeping ocean views without requiring a strenuous hike. For couples who want epic scenery with manageable access, Ecola is a stunning option when open.
Ecola Scenic Overlooks
Best For:
The Vibe
Elevated. Expansive. Cinematic. Sweeping views of Haystack Rock and the coastline stretching north and south. It feels dramatic but still grounded in forest serenity.
Planning Notes:
♿ Accessibility🟢 Flat & Easy
Many overlook areas are accessible via short, maintained walking paths from parking areas. Terrain is firmer than sandy beaches, making it easier for guests compared to soft sand locations.
🅿️ Parking
Ecola offers a spacious parking area which makes guest arrival simpler than residential beach entrances.
Permits
Small, simple ceremonies typically do not require a permit. Larger structured gatherings or rental setups need a special-use permit through the Oregon State Parks Department.
View more photos of Ecola State Park

Current Status: 🚧 Important: Current Closure. As of March 1, 2026, Hug Point is closed due to flood and erosion damage at the beach entrance. Before planning your ceremony here, please check the Oregon State Parks website for the most up-to-date status and access information.
Why Couples Love It
One of the most popular and diverse elopement and micro-wedding locations on the North Oregon Coast, Hug Point offers a magical mix of sea caves, a seasonal waterfall, and dramatic cliffs — all within a relatively short walk from the parking area. It feels adventurous and cinematic without requiring a long hike, which makes it especially appealing for couples who want something intimate and visually unforgettable.
Best For:
The Vibe
Moody. Romantic. Wild.
When the tide is low, you can walk around the headland to reach the iconic cave and seasonal waterfall area — one of the most photographed ceremony spots on the coast. Waves echo against the cliffs, and the space feels tucked away and intimate. It’s dynamic and ever-changing, which is part of its magic.
Planning Notes:
🌊 Tide Dependent
It’s very important to check the tides when planning your ceremony here.
Beach access around the headland is limited (and often completely cut off) during high tide. I always recommend scheduling ceremonies within a safe low-tide window (below 3 ft) to ensure:
🅿️ Parking
From May - Sept, parking can be challenging between 12–5 PM, especially on weekends. An early morning (before 11am) or evening ceremony (after 6pm) is often the best choice — both for parking ease and overall experience.
♿ Accessibility 🔴 Steep / Trail / Stairs
While it’s a short walk from the parking area, the terrain includes a steep downhil walk, a rocky beach and uneven surfaces. This location is not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for guests with mobility concerns. For more accessible alternatives, I often recommend Manzanita Beach or select entrances in Cannon Beach.
Permits
Simple elopements typically do not require a permit. If you plan to bring rentals or structured setup elements, a Special Use Permit through Oregon State Parks may be required. NOTE: The State Parks Dept does not issue permits at Hug Point between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
I recommend keeping guest count small (ideally under 25). The cave area narrows quickly, and larger groups can feel crowded in this space. Also, parking is limited so you may want to carpool.
My Personal Tip
If Hug Point has your heart, let the tide chart guide your timeline — not the clock. When we plan with the ocean instead of against it, this location feels absolutely magical.
If you’re dreaming of vows beside a sea cave with waves echoing against the cliffs, let’s talk through timing, tides, and whether Hug Point is the right fit for your vision.

Why Couples Love Short Sands Beach
Just 15 minutes south of Cannon Beach, this stunning cove is a favorite among surfers and nature lovers alike. Reached by a scenic half-mile trail through old-growth forest and across a charming wooden footbridge, Short Sands feels like stepping into a hidden world. It’s intimate, protected, and deeply romantic.
Best For:
The Vibe
Secluded. Forested. Peaceful. The trail itself becomes part of the experience with towering trees, filtered light, and the sound of a creek running alongside you. The beach sits inside a curved cove, offering some protection from wind compared to more open stretches of coastline. At negative tide, a small waterfall is accessible at the north end of the beach, a magical bonus if timing aligns.
Planning Notes:
🌊 Tide Considerations
The main beach remains accessible at most tide levels, but the waterfall at the north end is only reachable during negative tide.
🥾 Accessibility 🔴 Steep / Trail / Stairs
This location requires a half-mile walk each way on a maintained forest trail.
🅿️ Parking
Parking is along Highway 101 and can fill quickly in summer months. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking fee is $12 per car.
Permits
Small ceremonies without setup are typically allowed. Chairs, arches, amplified sound, or larger structured events may require a permit through Oregon State Parks.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
I recommend keeping guest count under 30 to ensure a comfortable, intimate experience and manageable trail flow.
My Personal Tip
If you choose Short Sands, build in extra time. The walk through the forest slows everything down in the best possible way. It becomes part of the ceremony experience.

Elk Flats Trail in Oswald West (Cliffside)
Why Couples Love Elk Flats Trail
A favorite spot for a small elopements with fewer than 10 guests, Elk Flats Trail offers breathtaking cliffside views along Neahkahnie Mountain. The rock formations here resemble ancient ruins and natural cathedrals — some dating back millions of years. The setting feels timeless, dramatic, and sacred. It’s one of those places where you stand quietly for a moment before saying anything at all.
Best For:
The Vibe
Dramatic. Elevated. Powerful. You’re standing high above the ocean with expansive coastal views stretching in both directions. It feels less like a beach ceremony and more like standing at the edge of the world.
Planning Notes
🥾 TerrainThis location requires a steep downhill hike to reach the cliffside clearing. It’s best visited during the dry season, as the slope can become slippery and muddy in wet conditions. Hiking boots or sturdy footwear are strongly recommended.
♿ Accessibility 🔴 Steep / Trail
Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommended for anyone with mobility limitations. Best suited for small, physically comfortable groups.
🌦 Seasonal Considerations
Wind exposure can be strong at the cliffside. Always have a flexible mindset and weather awareness.
Permits
Small, simple elopements typically do not require a permit. Not suitable for larger or structured setups.r
Guest Capacity Recommendation
I recommend limiting guest count to 10 or fewer. The overlook space is intimate and narrow.
My Personal Tip
Elk Flats is best experienced slowly. Arrive early, allow time to settle, and let the landscape set the tone before the ceremony begins.

Why Couples Love It
Just a few minutes south of Cannon Beach, Arcadia Beach offers a wide, sandy shoreline framed by dramatic cliffs and forested land. It has that classic Oregon Coast beauty, but feels a little more relaxed and less crowded than central Cannon Beach.
Best For
The Vibe
Open. Natural. Peaceful. Arcadia feels expansive without being overwhelming. The cliffs to the south create a beautiful frame, and Lion Rock just to the north of the entrance adds a dramatic focal point for photos.
Planning Notes
🌊 Tide Considerations
Arcadia remains accessible throughout most tide levels, though lower tides provide more space and better photo opportunities.
At low tide, you can:
♿ Accessibility 🟡 Sand / Rocks/Uneven Terrain
Arcadia Beach is not ideal for wheelchair access. While the path to the beach begins right off the parking area and is relatively short, it includes uneven sand and a slight incline, which can make mobility challenging.
🅿️ Parking
There is a small parking lot just off Highway 101. In peak summer months (June–September), it can fill quickly, especially midday. Early morning or later afternoon/evening ceremonies are often more comfortable. For larger guest counts, carpooling is recommended.
Permits
Small, simple ceremonies without setup typically do not require a permit. If you plan to have a larger gathering (50 or more), or have a smaller gathering with rentals (chairs, tables, an arbor) a permit through Oregon State Parks may be required. NOTE: Permits are not issued at Arcadia Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
Arcadia works beautifully for:
Because the beach is wide, it can accommodate small chair setups more easily than some tucked-away coves.
My Personal Tip
If you love the idea of Hug Point but want easier logistics and more flexibility with tides, Arcadia is often the perfect alternative. It gives you cliffs, drama, and space without the pressure of racing the ocean.
Is Arcadia Beach Right for You?
If you’re envisioning a scenic coastal ceremony with simple access and natural beauty, Arcadia might be the perfect balance. Let’s talk through your guest count, tide timing, and overall vision to see if it’s the right fit.

Why Couples Love It
I love Chapman Point for a micro-wedding. Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood on the north end of Cannon Beach, it offers a peaceful alternative to the more crowded main beach. With views of Haystack Rock in the distance, it feels both scenic and secluded, the best of both worlds.
For couples who want iconic Oregon Coast beauty without the heavy foot traffic, Chapman is often the perfect fit.
Best For
The Vibe
Quiet. Intimate. Effortlessly beautiful. Unlike central Cannon Beach, Chapman feels residential and tucked away. You won’t have tourists wandering through your ceremony space the way you might near Haystack Rock. It feels intentional, like you chose a special corner of the coast just for your gathering.
Planning Notes:
🌊 Tide Considerations
Chapman Beach remains accessible at most tide levels, though lower tides provide:
I always check tide charts to position us in the most comfortable and photogenic area.
♿ Accessibility🟡 Sand Dunes / Uneven Terrain
Accessibility here is generally manageable for most guests.
Guests will still walk on sand, but compared to locations like Hug Point or Short Sands, Chapman is much simpler logistically.
🅿️ Parking
There is typically plenty of street parking available for a small group, which makes guest arrival far less stressful than in central Cannon Beach during peak season.
Permits
Permits are typically not an issue here for small, simple ceremonies without rentals.
If you plan to bring:
You should contact the State Parks Dept about a special-use permit, but for intimate gatherings, it’s usually very straightforward.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
Chapman works beautifully for:
Because of its quieter setting, it shines most with intimate gatherings.
My Personal Tip
If your heart is drawn to Cannon Beach but you want your ceremony to feel calm and uninterrupted, Chapman is often the smartest choice.
Is Chapman Beach Right for You?
If you’re envisioning an intimate ceremony with iconic coastal views and simple logistics, Chapman Beach may be exactly what you’re looking for. Let’s talk through guest count, timing, and placement to make sure it aligns beautifully with your vision.

Why Couples Love It
A hidden gem along the North Oregon Coast, Arch Cape Beach offers a peaceful and scenic setting for a ceremony without the busyness of nearby Cannon Beach. The more secluded south end features dramatic rock formations that resemble a natural cathedral (if you plan it during a very low tide).
Best For
The Vibe
Quiet. Raw. Almost secret. Arch Cape feels less like a destination beach and more like a tucked-away stretch of coastline that locals know and love. The cliffs rise steeply behind you, and the south-end rock formations create a sense of enclosure, almost like standing inside nature’s cathedral. It’s simple, understated, and deeply beautiful.
Planning Notes
🌊 Tide Considerations
The secluded south-end rock formations are only accessible at a negative tide, typically during late summer when tides drop the lowest.
At higher tide levels, that portion of the beach becomes inaccessible. If you’re drawn specifically to the “cathedral” rock area, ceremony date and timing must be planned carefully around the tide chart.
♿ Accessibility🟡 Sand / Rocks/Uneven Terrain
Access is relatively simple from nearby street parking.
For guests with mobility limitations, other beaches may be a better fit.
🅿️ Parking
Street parking is typically available in the residential areas near the beach access points Because Arch Cape is quieter than Cannon Beach, parking is usually manageable for small gatherings with just a few cars. Carpooling is encouraged for larger groups. Some couples choose to rent an oceanfront house at Arch Cape for easier access (see lodging section).
Permits
Small, simple ceremonies without rentals typically do not require a permit.
If you plan to bring:
You may need to contact the Oregon State Parks Dept about a special-use permit.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
Arch Cape works beautifully for:
Because of tide restrictions at the south end, I recommend keeping guest count modest for flexibility and comfort.
My Personal Tip
If you’re drawn to Arch Cape, let the landscape lead. This is a location that rewards simplicity and minimal setup, soft tones, and a ceremony that feels grounded in the natural surroundings.
When the tide is right and the light hits those rock formations, it truly feels like standing inside something ancient.
Is Arch Cape Beach Right for You?
If you’re dreaming of a peaceful ceremony framed by dramatic coastal rock formations — and you’re flexible with tide timing — Arch Cape may be the perfect fit.
Let’s talk through guest count, tide charts, and seasonal timing to see if it aligns with your vision.

Why Couples Love It
A hidden gem nestled at the base of Ecola State Park, Indian Beach is where scenes from the movie Twilight were filmed. and features a long sandy shoreline framed by forested cliffs. Above the beach, a stunning wooded overlook provides a beautiful and intimate ceremony option for couples wanting both elevation and shoreline access. It feels secluded, intimate and romantic.
Best For
The Vibe
Intimate. Wild. Moody. Indian Beach feels more tucked away than Cannon Beach, but less exposed than some cliffside-only locations. The forest backdrop softens the space, and the long shoreline gives flexibility for ceremony placement.
Planning Notes
🌊 Tide Considerations
Beach access is best at low tide — ideally when the tide is 4 feet or lower. Higher tides significantly reduce usable beach space, so timing is important here.
♿ Accessibility 🔴 Steep / Trail
Indian Beach offers a spacious parking area and a short walk down to the beach. However, the terrain is uneven and sandy, making it unsuitable for standard wheelchair access. The overlook location involves approximately a 10-minute uphill hike from the parking lot and is not recommended for those with mobility challenges.
🅿️ Amenities
These amenities make it more guest-friendly than many coastal ceremony spots.
My Personal Tip
If you’re choosing between a beach ceremony and a cliffside overlook, Indian Beach gives you both — without committing to a long hike. It’s one of the most versatile ceremony locations on the North Coast when fully open.
Is Indian Beach Right for You?
If you’re dreaming of forested cliffs and sweeping coastal views this park may be perfect. Let’s talk through timing, tide charts, and current park status to see if it aligns with your vision.

Why Couples Love It
Manzanita Beach is one of the most spacious and guest-friendly ceremony locations on the North Oregon Coast. With sweeping views of Neahkahnie Mountain to the north and miles of wide, open shoreline, it offers dramatic coastal beauty — without the heavy tourist traffic of Cannon Beach. For couples planning a larger gathering, rental setup, or ceremony with accessibility considerations, Manzanita is often the ideal choice.
Best For
The Vibe
Open. Calm. Expansive. Manzanita feels peaceful and breathable. The beach is wide and flat, giving you flexibility in placement and space for guests to spread out comfortably. Unlike more tucked-away coves, there’s no pressure from tide timing or narrow ceremony areas. It’s beautiful in a relaxed, grounded way.
Planning Notes:
🌊 Tide Considerations
Manzanita remains accessible throughout most tide levels due to its wide shoreline. Lower tides provide even more usable space, but you’re not restricted to a tight low-tide window like Hug Point or Arch Cape. This flexibility makes planning significantly easier.
♿ Accessibility
Manzanita is one of the most accessible beaches on the North Coast.
For couples inviting guests with mobility concerns — or renting chairs and arbors — this beach offers far fewer logistical challenges.
🅿️ Parking
Parking is generally manageable, especially compared to Cannon Beach.
There are:
For larger guest groups, carpooling is still encouraged.
📋 Permits
Small, simple ceremonies without rentals typically do not require a permit.
If you are bringing:
A Special Use Permit may be required depending on setup and guest count. I help guide couples through this process if needed.
Guest Capacity Recommendation
Manzanita works beautifully for:
Its width and openness make it one of the most versatile beaches on the coast.
My Personal Tip
If you’re feeling torn between a dramatic beach and easy logistics, Manzanita is often the most balanced choice. It gives you sweeping mountain views, open coastline, and the flexibility to design your ceremony without worrying about tight tide windows or crowded tourist zones.
Is Manzanita Beach Right for You?
If you’re envisioning a ceremony with space to breathe, room for guests, and beautiful coastal views without complication, Manzanita may be the perfect fit. Let’s talk through your guest count, setup plans, and vision to make sure it aligns beautifully.

Why Couples Love It
Seaside Beach offers one of the most accessible and convenient ceremony locations on the North Oregon Coast. With its wide shoreline, flat sand, mobi-mat, beach wheelchair rentals, and direct access from the iconic Promenade, it’s especially well-suited for couples who want simple logistics and easy guest access. For larger gatherings or guests with mobility considerations, Seaside can be a very practical — and still beautiful — choice.
Best For
The Vibe
Open. Lively. Classic beach town. Seaside feels energetic compared to quieter beaches like Arch Cape or Chapman. It’s a destination town with restaurants, shops, and activity nearby.
The beach itself is wide and flat, with plenty of room to create space for your ceremony — but expect beachgoers, especially in summer. This is not a secluded cove. It’s a vibrant coastal setting.
Planning Notes
🌊 Tide Considerations
Seaside’s beach is wide and remains accessible at most tide levels. Lower tides provide more open space, but you’re not dependent on a narrow tide window. This flexibility makes scheduling much easier.
♿ Accessibility
Seaside is one of the most accessible beaches on the Oregon Coast.
For guests using mobility aids or needing stable entry points, this location is often one of the smoothest options available
🅿️ Parking
Parking is generally straightforward with:
Summer weekends can be busy, but overall, Seaside offers some of the simplest guest logistics on the coast.
Permits
Small ceremonies without rentals typically do not require a permit.
If you plan to bring:
You may need to check with the State Parks Dept for a special-use permit
My Personal Tip
If accessibility and ease are your top priorities — especially for elderly guests or mobility needs — Seaside is often one of the least stressful choices on the North Coast. It may not be the most secluded option, but it is one of the most practical and inclusive.
Is Seaside Beach Right for You?
If you’re looking for a spacious, accessible, and guest-friendly ceremony location with simple logistics, Seaside may be the perfect fit. Let’s talk through your guest count and setup plans to see if it aligns with your vision.
